10 - Using your phone

USING YOUR PHONE

Turning on for the first time

To turn on your phone for the first time, press and hold the power

button until the screen turns on. You will then be asked to configure

some settings before you can use your phone.

Follow the onscreen instructions to complete setup.

Protect your phone with fingerprint recognition

You will be asked to set up fingerprint, PIN, pattern,

or password protection to control access to your

phone. Select Set up fingerprint to register one or

more fingerprints. If you use a fingerprint to access

your phone, then you can use the fingerprint

scanner to unlock your phone, authorise payments,

and sign in to some apps.

You will also be asked to set up a second way to

unlock you phone and how notifications will

displayed when the screen is locked.

Follow the instructions, and when asked, lightly

place your finger on the sensor, while holding your

phone as you would normally. After adding your first fingerprint we

recommend you register another finger so you can easily access your

phone if, for example, holding your phone with your other hand.

Once you have added one or more fingers, tap Next to continue the

setup process.

settings, see Security on page 48.

If you have internet access, your phone allows you to synchronize

information with a Google account.

You may create or sign in to an existing Google account, which will be

used to synchronize your contact list, email, calendar and other
