Removing and installing the CPU
Your system’s Pentium
III processor comes in a FC-PGA 370-pin package.
The FC-PGA package is designed for the new breed of sleek, high
performance, small form factor PCs.
Your mainboard supports two Pentium III processors running at
933 Mhz and 1 GHz or two Intel
Pentium III processors running at 512K
1.13- and 1.26 GHz and future generations of Pentium III processors on
a 100 or 133 MHz system bus.
Caution: Always observe the ESD precautions when installing or
removing a system component. Refer to page 49.
Removing a CPU
Follow these steps to remove a CPU:
1 Remove the housing panels. See page 51 for more detailed
instructions.
2 Locate the CPU socket on the mainboard.
3 Detach the fan/heatsink cable connector (1and 2).
4 Insert a flat screwdriver into the fan/heatsink metal bracket (3)
and pry it outward (4).
